Yes, mostly because he's not trapped in the booth (it's up a ladder over one of the bars) while making adjustments. This is a huge advantage for any sound man.
Not only that, but even the music thundering out of the house system between acts is streaming from his phone as he strolls around. He'll walk up, wave his phone at you and say "Whattaya wanna hear?" Pretty slick, that boy.
