Thank you!! It was the ADT (automatic double tracker) invented by EMI
engineer Ken Townsend. John Lennon called it the flanger thus the name we
use today. I tried that effect but after hearing a few live versions of the
song with straight Hammond/Leslie I decided to go with that. Robert the
guitarist told me that he had a whole new respect for Clapton after
recreating that solo. Hands cramping up doing those bends and vibrato! !
