Subject:Re: A Whiter Shade Of Pale-VB3 organ Mk II
*OK Guys/Gals..here's the deal..
*
*I was hired to record a faithful cover of this song for the singer..
*
*This is not about trying to redo Matthew Fisher note for note..It's about
the essence of that feeling that this song gives people..it came out during
the "Summer Of Love" 1967 & was a huge hit..I love doing rearrangements of
covers but i thought the fun as a keyboardist would be to capture the sound
of the original..Come on.. we all have or still do play in cover bands,,It's
just another cover..If I had a real B3 I would have used that..Some of you
guys have 3 or 4!! *
*
*As far as the key...I fought tooth & nail for C but Johnny Croot in years
past could have sang that but a bout with cancer that took a small toll on
his voice..he tried..No Go! The guy is 65 years old & still sings great! *
*
*As far as posting this song to this crowd?? I know what i am up against! A
lot of great organ players & people like me that are bent on keeping this
sound alive..*
*I wanted comments & criticism..*
*I can write a song a day eveyday but wanted to take on this project..doing
some classics..Wait till you hear "Sail On Sailor" by the Beach Boys or
"While My Guitar gently Weeps" ! I have a great crew of internet musicians
all working on these tunes..My guitar collaborator Robert Siekawitch nails
the Clapton parts on the Harrison tune..*
*Anyway thanx a bunch & Bill...VB3 is no "Real McCoy".. Very aware of
that..I will take your suggestions for mic placement/ambience..*
*
*As Mr. Sellers said...AWSOP Wars have begun! Ha ha!! Bring'em on!! *
