Subject:Re: To clone or not to clone, that is the qustion....
David,
My Nord C2 sits very firmly on my new K&M 18810 stand.. I would have no problem doing these kind of palm glises (and I don't use any velcro). With my first NORD, the C1, I had the factory stand that screwed into the bottom of the keyboard.. It was as firm and as sturdy as anyone would ever want. With the Nord C2, I chose to try something different and picked up the K&M stand and the C2 sits beautifully on it.. with the rubber feet/pads straddling the two arms perfectly.. I can palm gliss all I want, it doesn't budge. That doesn't mean that all clone/stand combinations are secure enough to do this, but some are..
My Nord C1 was sturdy enough to handle this.. so is my current Nord C2/K&M stand, and even my first clone, a digital KORG BX3 with the factory stand was sturdy enough to do this, no problem.. Not all the clones are flimsy little things, as you seem to be suggesting.
BTW these big pieces of furniture have some disadvantages too.. and if you look at the way this B3 is wobbling at about the 3:30 mark this player may soon find out about one of those disadvantages... the legs can get loose, and break..! Especially with this kind of treatment!!
I'll stick with Nord C2 for now, and leave the real hammonds/leslies at home.
