I've heard a number of people still using the old analog CX-3 through a real
leslie and it sounded pretty good in a live band context. I know Derek
Sherinian used to use the old analog one through a leslie and he loved
it.Modeski still uses an analog BX-3 because he doesn't like the digital
version. Given the choice I think I would use the analog one as well (yes I
had the new one, sold it to buy an Electro 2) It does have some good balls
for rock I used to play mine through an H & K Tube Rotosphere and it sounded
pretty good to me.(YMMV) I need to try it through the Vent if it wasn't so
big I may take it out of the house once and while.LOL!!!

I guess the old Korg would be vintage in a way, but as already mentioned
it's not as much a clone as it's own beast. I have the old and the new (sold
one a year ago of the old analog, kicked myself for getting rid of it, and
just had opportunity to buy another one which now sits on my wurly).
THe thing that amazes me the most was I remember when the original CX3 came
out, and how much of a big deal they made out of the fact that the top and
bottom of the rotary sim sped up and slowed down at different rates, and the
way they bragged up the key click, and the overdrive. It was the closest
thing they had, and was a huge step forward from the Yamaha SK series and
the crumars. We thought it was it back then (although we still said it
didn't beat the real thing) and if I compare the new digital CX to this old
one the old one sounds so primitive (although I still prefer the overdrive
of the old one better). And honestly, even though I love the interface and
feel of the new CX, things like the numa, KeyB, and Nords are worlds ahead
of that in sound already. We have come an awefully long way! I listen to
that sim in the old analog CX now, and it's terrible! Are we going to think
that about the vent in ten years?
