Subject:Re: Numa/C2 reviews in keyboard magazine

I am glad the Keyboard Magazine acknowleged how good the leslie simulation in the Numa really is.

The Numa is fussy about what kind of amplification and speakers that you run it through. Because it works so well with a Hammond preamp and leslie I have to trust that if a particular amp or speakers doesn't work with it, then I have to dig a bit deeper and find what does work.

The Blue Sky satellite/ sub that I tried at Portland Music yesterday sounded very smooth with the Numa . Once again, this system lacked the typical P.A. type horn that I am finding is somewhat of a culprit in getting this thing to sound somehow not right.

I went home and ran the Numa through typical home stereo ( Polk Audio) speakers and it also sounded pretty good. You could actually get some relatively good overdrive out of it because the home speakers lack the shrillness of P.A. horns.

If you really want to hear how good the Numa is, run it through a Hammond and leslie if you can( through the RCA jack of a Hammond preamp) or make sure the speakers and amp you hear it with have a similar tonal balance that a leslie might have.

Then you might understand why Keyboard Magazine gives it such high praise.
