There is no real rule of thumb that I am aware of, just use your ears to build the sound you're are looking for.
What kind of amp/speaker combo are you using? You should have some kind of EQ that should help you balance
things out.

I just picked up another amp which doesnt seem to
accentuate the highs as much as what i've become
accustomed to.
Consequently the lower drawbars seem to overwhelm the upper
drawbars, so I have to push them in to retain a balance between
upper and lower.
Does anyone have a similar experience or can anyone suggest a
rule of thumb for using drawbars by ear.
