Has to be said, I come from more of a piano than an organ background, and I've never played anything like a real Hammond in a band, so my technique's probably all wrong anyway. I do lots of swells, hand glisses and the occasional Leslie speed change, but most of the time it's just chord chops, "bubble" rhythm playing and the odd solo. In our ska version of Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds" I put the percussion on to play the "The chances of anything coming from Mars / Are a million to one, he said" part, but otherwise it's just 16' plus all the white drawbars on full, with the Leslie on fast.

For me, the Average White Band playing 'Pickup The Pieces', was
a good use of vibrato. But I really don't use it that much.
