Subject:Re: Bye, Bye VK8m

The VK8m has a lot going for it . The percussion is fine, I don't know how
it could get more " ballsy" and the chorus vibrato rivals the Numa. I
definitely planned to keep it and actually integrate it into the Numa in various
ways.

Whenever I listened to the chorus vibrato on any other clones before the
Numa, I seriously wondered WTF people were hearing. I decline to comment on
particulars, but I thought that people must be using it in different ways (
which is probably true).

If I have to run mono I would DEFINITELY use straight chorus vibrato and NO
SIM . Leslie simulation in mono drives me nuts for the most part.... So
this was a big reason why the VK8m seemed essential to me.

I would still love to hear a Voce V5 plus but it never seems to happen. I
see Dave Amels a lot at NAMM and he has always wanted me to demo one by
buying it and returning it to Sweetwater or whoever, but that is just not my
style.

Interestingly, when I used to run the VK8m through leslies I never had
shrillness issues. I often did when running through a P.A., though this seems
to be true with most clones I have tried. I just don't think that P.A.
speakers work well with clones for the most part. I have heard this time and
time again with any and every clone.

The other night I put a Numa through the P.A. Same thing - shrill, and the
Numa is not a shrill sounding clone.

I wrote about using a tweeterless speaker a few weeks back, which is what I
am doing now with the Numa.
