Thanks for sharing.

Did a shorter URL for that more playable Les Paul prototype.

Never seen that one before. The guitar I've always seen described as "The Log" was this one:

made from a Gibson neck, a solid spruce block for the body and a bisected Epiphone archtop body for the acoustically functionless "wings". This was Les' studio and stage guitar from the early 1940s until the Gibson Les Paul entered production in the early 1950s. The one that you posted must pre-date this by a considerable time, and corresponds much more closely to descriptions from interviews with Les. So, if this later one ISN'T "The Log", what is it? I would go for "The Broomstick", which is how Gibson executives described it when they saw (and initially rejected) it in the late 1940s. It was Leo Fender's launch of the Fender Broadcaster in 1950 the prompted Gibson to take a second look at Les' guitar.

Hi All,

This to share something curious unless for me and it's the first prototype made by Les Paul for Gibson Corp.

Found it looking for Chet Atkins recordings.

Let's say that despite it was called 'the log', nowadays would be a 'franken-guitar' .
