Subject:Voce update sitting in limbo
I've still been singing the blues about my Voce. I'd much rather be
playing them on the V5 but it's at Tony LaBrasca's shop, he's trying to
get hold of Dave Amels to see if it can be fixed.
I've done a several gigs and sure missed it. People haven't noticed,
they can't even see the orange box, but I think most people on this list
can relate to the feeling of having a sound dialed in and then not being
able to have it. Set-up wise, it seems there's nothing really like the
V5 either. Even the new Hammond module takes two units to have the sound
and the drawbars.
Does anyone know if the V5+ is still being manufactured? I see them
listed on the web but I don't know if they're just selling out what's in
stock. I'm guessing that at least some of the parts for it could be used
to repair a V5.
My X77 stopped working last Friday. I don't think the X77P doesn't hold
a candle to a 145 or 122 but there's something I enjoy about the real
rotating speaker which I miss. I'm going to have to learn to repair the
foot pedals myself as the only other options are to have a local tech to
learn how to fix them or to pay to have them shipped off. I did get my
JBL back and running.
I love playing jazz organ but gigs don't pay that well and gear can be
expensive. I also notice a different attitude toward digital stuff, I'm
willing to tolerate little things going wrong with my Hammonds but
expect my XK3 to work perfectly. Part of that is I'm only using the
Hammonds at home and digital electronics tend work perfectly or not at
all. I've thought of replacing my Voce with a VB3 set-up on gigs but
something tells I'll be opening up a bigger can of worms than I started
with.
I realize I'm just speculating until I get further word on the V5. I do
hope I can get it running again. Thanks!
