Subject:Re: Leslie 45 No Amp, Worth it?

Hi Trinidad,

The Leslie 45 was the 1-speed forerunner to the Leslie 145. I believe
that it was offered without an amp, so that might be 'stock.'

You can drop in a 122 or 147 amp and turn it into a 142 or 145,
respectively. What it will *not* have is a 2-speed motor stack. You
can either go for a 2-speed controller that works with the motors it
came with, or mount a pair of 2-speed motors inside and connect them to
the amp. I'm partial to the 2-speed stack myself, although it might
require some minor carpenter work to get the motors to fit. (The speed
conversion kits are prone to vibration at Chorale speed.) I have a pair
of 2-speed stacks that I was saving as spares for my Leslie, but since
I'm using the Ventilator most of the time, I might part with them.
Contact me offline if you're interested.

I think that your prices are OK, except that $400 for an amp *that has
been fully reconditioned* is a little low. Unless you want to buy an
old one and re-cap/re-tube it yourself, figure more like $550+. All
things being equal, the Speakeasy price isn't all that 'high end.'

Regards,
