Subject:Leslie 45 No Amp, Worth it?
I've got a line on a 45 with no amp. $400 but taking offers. So I'm considering options.
Obviously it needs an amp. From what I can tell this model took a type 47 amp. I see speakeasy has new amps for $690 which I'll assume is the high end. What's a low end?
The term "single speed amp" has been tossed around. Does this mean I couldn't convert this to a 2 speed leslie with a single speed amp, presumably the type 47?
Lastly I'll need to alter connections. I have an M100 and a CX3 to use with it. So I'll need some kind of connection kit for the M100 and the leslie. (fwiw I have dual speakeasy, not sure where this would fit in this chain; also couldn't I use the amp in the M100 to drive the leslie?)
So amp, 2 speed conversion, and connections. Time and money. I know just getting a 145/7 would be easier, maybe cheaper but I don't see a lot of those selling separately in the SF Bay area. I think most you see on craigslist are way overpriced. Plus $2-400 outlays are easier to swallow than $1000.
Is it worth it? I have minimal electronic skills but a strong desire to learn and tinker.
Guesstimating:
$200 for leslie (my offer)
$400 amp(?)
$280 2 speed kit
$100 connections(?)
Sound realistic?

whew, I think answered my own question...
