Subject:Re: Another Ventilator convert
I couldn't agree more! I've been playing a Nord C1 through the Vent, since
the end of May. This is THE sound I've always tried to get. While I love
the standard 888000000, etc., 3d harmonic registration, I always wanted to
get a really good tremolo, gospel feel. The Vent does this RIGHT! I use
408000002, 008800000 and other similar set-ups, with C1 or 3 chorus. For me,
nothing else has ever come close!

Ok, so I purchased a Ventilator, from Bruce at Ashby Solutions. I'm sure
this post isn't surprising in the least but I'm way impressed. I was looking
for the 'grindy' overdriven tone specifically, and it's got it! I should
say some of my favorite bands are Deep Purple and Uriah Heep...so there you
go as for one reason I hopped on board. I love the tone of the thing..It has
a nice resonance that I was looking for... & the ramp-up is
attention-getting in a good way. I played with it at home yesterday for a few hours. I
like the distance knob set at about 1 or 2 o'clock, or sometimes closer for
that choppier, closer-mic'd sound typical of 'Heavy Rock'. I will say on
balance, the XK-3c's built in sim is no slouch either. I like the Chorale
speed simulation *much* better on the Vent. The fm & am beating sounds more
present & pronounced...deeper. As for consideration whether to bring it with
me to gigs, it is nice not to have 'one more thing to schlep ', but I think
this little box will be worth bringing to gigs for the (IMHO) vast
improvement in the Leslie effect.
