Hi Ramon
The mod will only work if used with a old fashion tube input circuit. The mod in simple terms is nothing more then a passive mixer to Y the left & right channels into a mono signal. No more no less..

hi Steve,
I really don't get it. Are you really sure of what you are saying?
As a side question, why do you think manufacturers aren't delivering
their keyboards with 2 headphone outs, one as a stereo par labelled
"headphones" and the other as 2 mono outs labelled "line out"? According
to you this would be a great improvement in tone that it costs near
nothing and is very easy to implement, isn't it?
regards
Ramon

Hey James
A simple example of this in laymen terms. Take a guitar amp. You need to
get the best signal to the PA as possible. Tapping the preamp out from
the amp has one sound. This is the lineout from the keyboard. Use a mic
or a direct box. You will get a sound with lots more tone & details.
This is the headphone jack. Which one will sound better?? But bear in
mind. Only a true tube input can do the best job of presenting this new
data to the main amp..

incredible sound (definitely not the *only* reason), and why players are
always impressed with the sound of a new 'board though headphones, then
plug it into a keyboard amp and it doesn't sound like the same
instrument they bought. The headphone output (as many NE owners can
attest) has a stronger signal than the L & R outs; it also has a better
tone. I've A/B'd several current 'boards from different manufacturers,
and the difference in tone is undeniable>>
Jason, I'd be really interested to understand the science behind this -
can you elaborate?RegardsJames
