My $0.50
VK-7: too squirrelly - not independently available between swell & great. I
found few situations where it could be used.
VK-8m: very slightly squirrelly - sometimes a little artificial sounding
with Leslie - Also not independently available between swell & great. I
find sometimes it doesn't sound right and I choose not to use it where I
would still have it on on a B3 but generally very good and a huge
improvement on VK-7. I experimented with the different organ vintages as
the C/V is different on each one.
C2: I don't feel there are any situations where I can't use it the way I
would on a B3. It is not exactly right (none of them are) but it is 100%
usable for me in a way that the VK8m is not quite 100% usable
In a lab test I suspect it would very hard to tell the difference anyway,
but putting them through a leslie or sim usually highlights the weaknesses.
