Ha ha, if only! Sadly, the story isn't as interesting as the five
words make it sound (hence my taking a while to reply).
I was playing CX3, blues harp, melodica, autoharp etc (as you do) for
a chanteuse named Barb Jungr and we found ourselves supporting
Christian McBride at Ronnie Scott's club here in London. He was
sorting out arrangements and borrowed my pen. I asked him for it back
a few times but he never seemed to have it on him, and I enjoyed the
running joke of it, although I suspect the irony of it was lost on
him (perhaps a combination of cultural differences in senses of
humour and his being a big ol' bass virtuoso who doesn't get teased
very often).
It ended up after the last performance with me saying to him that I
thought he and the band were wonderful, which of course they were,
and I humbly wondered if I could have his autograph. He was like,
'get outta here we're all musicians together' kind-of-vibe, to which
I replied "Yeah well I don't really want it so much as I was JUST
TRYING TO GET MY PEN BACK!!!!".
Didn't work but there's something delicious about teasing a big-neck
that brings out the mischievous lil' scamp in me :)

His keyboard player, Geoffrey Keezer, was a radiantly lovely guy and
an absolute keyboard don. I didn't tease him. He didn't steal my biro.
