Hi,

I started out playing my digital BX-3 through a JBL EON system, (the G2 powered cabinets with 10" speakers and a pair of powered EON subs. It sounded great and got many compliments, at gigs.

However, the lure of the "real thing" prompted me to hook it up to a pair of model 760 Leslies, (solid state amps,) and I've never gone back to the EONs. There are so many reasons to bite the bullet and haul the furniture around and they all have to do with reaching musical Nirvana. I finally realized, as a long time tone wheel and clone wheel player, that nothing will replace moving the air around my ears. Some soundman is going to mangle things his way, whether he gets the signal from a mic or a DI box, but I can at least enjoy the real experience.

I use the BX-3's own amp distortion and it translates just fine, in live environments. A combination of chops, registrations, dynamic volume pedal operation and judicious application of chorale/tremolo gets the job done and has "fooled" some other Hammond players into thinking I play a chopped console model.

Additionally, audiences never seem to grow tired of watching the horns and drums spooling up and down, as I'm often asked about them, at gigs.

Finally, the Korgans sound just fine through tube Leslies, too. I've gigged with a CX-3 and a 145, with good results. In fact, the CX-3's owner was so happy with the sound of his rig, after listening to it from the audience, he bought second Leslie for the increase in volume!
Try everything out, until you hear what you want, and exploit your clonewheel to the max.

Regards,

Mik
