Subject:Re: VB3 vst plug-in and controller

I also own an Edirol PCR-800 which I never use. I would like to fool around with VB3 also. I don't own a Mac and have never used software with my live rig. I have a pretty standard lap top computer running Windows XP. Outside of the software and computer, do you need anything else? They always talk about needing some sort of audio midi interface between the computer and the controller. Is that not necessary with VB3? Do you have any latency issues when playing? Any help or explanation would be welcome. I am always afraid the computer will crash in the middle of a song and have stayed away from soft synths as a result.

Subject: [CWSG] VB3 vst plug-in and controller

I noticed that Grant was bemoaning the fact that he could a decent sound fro the VB3, but that he would not have the control over the program he desired. I am using VB3 with the Edirol PCR-800, and by using the midi-learn function of VB3 have significant control of most of the functions of the program at my fingertips. I was able to activate most of the sliders to act as physical draw-bars. I was able to program my foot controller to go from slow to fast on the leslie effect, look ma no hands.

The more I play VB3 the more impressed I am with the job Guido has done to produce software that has a real organic feel and sound. The guitarist in my band just keeps shaking his head every time I use VB3, and can't believe the sound coming from Mac Book and Edirol controller. The bass player smiles every time he hears the low bass notes shaking the walls of our rehearsal space. I can't believe I waited so long to buy and install this software, I am also enjoying Guido's free download Mr Tramp Wurlitzer plug-in.

Cheers from the sunny but cold north.

David
