Subject:Re: Electro Voice SX100 speakers/ Has anyone tried them for organ cl
Hi All,
I didn't put my eyes on Electro Voice years ago cause were assemblied in ARG in the 90s but now not longer available except those imported or locally re-coned, still expensive cause still it's a legend brand.
OTOH have seen an avalanche of plastic molded cabs , all seemingly built in a few plants overseas.
Anybody tried to buy imported cheap passive cabs and modding them with better loudspeakers , should be Jensen , Weber, Emin., etc.
BTW never saw offered, JBL loudspeakers sold as spare units.
Don't know if they can be easily got disassembled from the front so to keep the back sealed intact.
That cause nobody needs to pay expensive freight for emblems if a plastic cab carry almost the same molded plastic as it's found in valued brands.
I care more about sound rather than of the emblem.
BTW, can be easily discerned which ones are Peavey made in USA from those made in Asia ?
Told that cause after trying a 12" import, didn't see same specs and sonic properties as former US manuf. ones.
Best,
Rafael

I have a pair of SxA 100+ speakers that I was using for gigging (and still can - I have a pair of QSC K10's now that weigh less and are smaller, so my EV's are in use in my studio mostly). Very good sounding - my rig is a Kurzweil PC3X, with a Nord Electro 3 for clonewheel duties - sounds good on all of them. I really like the 12" for both piano and organ, but the 10" K10's were considerably lighter. I'm 69, and weight during loadin and loadout has become more important than it used to be.
