Subject:Re: QSC K8 and K10 (and Ventilator, Nord)
I play with a band that has 2 K12's and 2 subs.
After checking specs and auditioning one K12 at practice.
I purchased a single K10.
I have to switch the input level switch to mic with the Stage
but then I can keep all my levels pretty reasonable.
The vent may add some gain also.
The single K10 is allowing me to leave my
15 inch Eon G2 in the trunk.
The horn in the G2 doesnt have as good a dispersion as the K10.
The K10 has side handles and weighs 10 lbs
less than the K12. Also, the K10 has similar dispersion
characteristics to the smaller K8.
Tone shaping is limited.
The K10 has a bass bump which makes it sound good
and can be defeated with a 100 hz rolloff switch built in.
All in all a very compact powerhouse.
The k12 has more bass than I need.
I have a hard time wrapping my head around
the idea of an 8 inch woofer for stage use.
Whichever you get you will be happy.
Specs are available on QSC website for comparison.
