Your point is well taken, Bruce.

Though I think we could have had a little "cake and eating it too" by starting with these great players, first evaluating each organ from the same "vanilla" starting point as I described (which even by itself, would be more useful and just as sellable as what they did); but then asking each of these players what one of their favorite drawbar registrations were, dial that in on each model, and then have the moderator go to each model while that player was playing his favorite registration, and change just that small handful of settings I mentioned.

I imagine it like an eye test. Booker T is playing Green Onions with his "correct" registration on organ A. Moderator changes the tonewheel setting. "Better or worse?" Okay, speaker setting. "Better or worse?" Start turning up the overdrive knob. "Tell me when to stop and back it off a bit." etc. Then when each model is roughly as good as that model is for Booker T, he could play them all, and really talk about the differences in context of the sound he's looking for. Man, that would be cool, would sell magazines, AND be of more help to the prospective purchaser!

(Of course it's not perfect, as changing one parameter can alter how another parameter would sound, but it would be a great start.)
