Actually, & unfortunately, what both Rich said (clean the pot) & Brad said (throw away the EV5) are probably the cause of the ptoblem. I had 2 or 3 of those over the years & they definitely had a limited usable life span. Since getting the Yamaha pedal I haven't had a problem & it's probably been 2+ years now. Could never get anywhere near that length of use w/ the EV5.
