Subject:C1 & Vent. (was Re: Where/How Do I Order THE VENTILATOR??)
I've experienced the exact same phenomenon as I too, play in stop mode 95% of the time. Depending on where the 'rotors' stop after stop mode is engaged, the sound can be a bit nasally/boxy or perfect, depending on the 'direction' of the 'rotors' when stopped. This issue can be mitigated somewhat by turning the distance control all the way to the furthest clockwise position (far).
I actually emailed Guido about this and asked if it were possible to change the software to always stop the rotors in the same position. He said it was, and that he might consider it as an option/feature in a future release.
The Vent sounds best in stop mode when first turned on (when both the low and high rotor LED's are on full brightness).
The Nord C1 sim has this same issue, but much worse.

I personally prefer the freq. response of the Vent. I play mostly stopped/fast and the only problem I've come across with on the Vent. is that sometimes the virtual direction of the horn when it's at complete stop points far enough away that it changes the overall response & I have to give the switch a fast on/off toggle to try to get it to point more forward. A little of that same problem w/ the low rotor too.
