Very good point. The old saying "They don't build 'em like they used to" was never truer. It's kind of funny, I have a reissue Marshall Plexi made in 2001, it's not vintage but many, at first, think it is and no, it's not made like the real vintage ones (but sounds pretty damn good at that.)

You're right, even this fairly well made reissue may be "vintage" in years to come because it is made to last but things like Hammond tone wheels can sadly, never be produced again.

A wise friend/guitarist I played with a few years ago said:

"Better get 'em while you can, they're not makin' 'em anymore".

The good news is there were thousands (millions?) made, and for now, they still seem fairly abundant, but just remember "they're not makin' 'em anymore".

Sorry for going off on a tangent, I guess "vintage" is really relative. But to get to be vintage, it's does have to last a while and that is the caveat. In this "throw-away age" will any of it last to be vintage? Mass market consumer stuff is the most vulnerable to being disposable. Anything software wise falls by the wayside because you need hardware to run it and all that seem to be disposeable. Catch 22.

Buy good, solid, repairable (by human hands, not robotics), hardware. Hopefully it will last.
