Subject:Roland VK module
Hello, Rafael.
I have been happy to read the recent positive reviews of the Roland VK module. I have the VK88 organ which is based on this module. I am extremely happy with it. As suggested I have tried adjusting the tone knob to 2:00 position, and this helps the leslie sim sound more "present." There are so many adjustments to the leslie. Others have stated that this has the best vibrato. And the 4 amp sims are also very well liked, especially the overdrive in amp #4.
The "D Beam is also a great feature. The module can sense your hand moving over the top, and this can be used to control several different features like rotary speed. Instead of having to move a switch to speed up the leslie, just move your hand over the module and the leslie changes speed. Do it again, and it changes back. Much quicker while playing.
The audio in is also nice. I use this with another keyboard (Casio) with drum beats. The Casio also has a nice saxophone that I can add to the organ.
The only negative I have heard with the Roalnd VK is the key bounce. But the module doesn't have keys. (I personally like the way the keys play).
With the recent positive reviews of the leslie sim, and the fact that this does so much more than simulate a leslie, I would get this over a Ventilator if that is what I needed. But if you are already happy with your clonewheel, and all you need is a leslie sim, the Ventilator might be a better deal.
The VK organ has additional orchestra tones. I love the vibes. Sounds real cool doing Bossa Nova- Jobim.
