According to a few guys from LI I knew while living in NC 66-69 the Vagrants were really the innovators of the whole "LI sound" from the style the Rascals "copied" to the style VF "copied". By the time I moved up there to LI 69-76 the Vagrants were long gone, VF was in its last stages & the Rascals weren't really around any more either, so that would just be hearsay evidence. I don't really know the true version. These guys were solidly in the Vagrants camp though so that could have biased their opinion.
