Subject:Weekend Warrior - question K10's for guitar

Ken, thanks for the kind words!!

I'm using a Yamaha MG82CX mixer with my two K10's and this mixer adds a lot of gain (if I need it).. I didn't realize how much gain the mixer added until I started performing at the Orbit Room..  when I play the Orbit Room they have a real B3, so I'm just take my Sonic Cell and a midi controller and I plug the Sonic Cell directly into one K10.. (without going through the mixer)..  The first time I did this, I noticed the volume was significantly lower than I was used to, and realized that it must be gain added by the mixer when the mixer is in the signal chain.

So all that said, I believe that if you are plugging the guitar into a mixer and then into the K10's you will probably have enough gain... without the mixer I don't think you'd have enough gain because I believe the K10 expect line level input.  The Yamaha mixer I use isn't expensive.. it's under $150 if I'm not mistaken.. low noise, built in effects.. it's great.

Regards,
Craig MacDonald

Congratulations Craig! Well founded praise indeed! I'd love to try a
pair of those K10s sometime, sounds like the perfect rig. Can I ask you
something? In one of my bands I play some guitar. So, I would need to
use three inputs on the K10 - pianos, Ventilator and guitar. Is there
enough gain on the channels of the K10 to handle that?

Thanks, Ken
