This is advice for everyone who works on audio electronics:
Get a cheap oscilloscope for $100 or so. An audio oscillator is nice too but you can use an organ or synth as a signal source till you get a decent sine wave oscillator or function generator. This may help when tracking down where your signal is clipping. Very often, you can find the problem without one, but it's just one more tool at your disposal.
