Subject:Re: Yet Another Ventilator Switching Question
I've been using the Ventilator live with my Nord Stage through the
Speakeasy Vintage Tube Preamp, sounds great as I've said before. The
gig I do every week has become a 7-hour marathon so I need the other
keyboard sounds the Nord has to offer to keep the gig interesting.
Last week I was practising at home on headphones with my CX3 into the
Vent then into the Behringer mini-mixer just for the headphone out.
Obviously it's going to be different into a PA or similar but I have
to say I was loving it! (I find it mildly irritating that the same
drawbar/ch-vib/perc settings on the two keyboards sound so different
but there you go.)
My feeling is that the thinner aspects of the CX3 are greatly
improved through the Ventilator and I wouldn't think twice about just
using that setup live, but I love the Speakeasy so I'll always take
it out as well as it's not a lot of extra hassle.
One thing I'm finding is that the Ventilator seems quite noisy: the
swoosh of the 'air' going by as the 'rotor' turns is noticeable
despite my dialling up different mic distances. Anyone noticed that?
The sound engineer asked about it on Sunday so it's not just me. Not
a problem at all when I'm playing, just when I'm not and nothing else
is going on...
