He is not using a leslie. He uses the fantastic hammond M100 chorus vibrato. You can see him switching it on and off with the tabs.

Is Winwood using a leslie with stop and fast settings? I don't hear the acceleration and slowing down, but he stops playing bewteen speed changes, which might explain it. Anyone have an idea how Steve Winwood creates the static (or stopped) and tremolo sounds without the speed transitions being audible? Not that I would like to do that myself - I am actually a huge fan of the speed transitions, but I like it when people come up with other solutions and it sounds great.
