Subject:Re: Why can't we get the Korg Cx-3 Analogue Mk I or New Digital Mk II in the UK
Hi Phil,
Yes, Mik is correct: The BX-3 and CX-3 (digital) went out of production almost two years ago. Obviously, there are probably a few NOS pieces around, plus used gear.
B+H Photo claims to have the CX-3, but the availability says, "Usually ships in 7-14 business days." At this point, it means, "We don't have any, but if you order one we'll try to find one for you." The same is true of Sweetwater and others.
Sam Ash *claims* to have stock; not sure what that means. ProSound says they are expecting more on 1-13-2010 -- must have a time machine ... ;-)
The going rate for a new one is $1799USD, or about 1125GBP. I would imagine that shipping would run another 100GBP.
Regards,
-BW

>I don't know where you got your information regarding KORG"s BX-3 still being made, but it isn't correct. KORG ended production of the digital BX-3 back in 2008, as I am informed by their Canadian office. They still show up, on EBay, from time to time and a few U.S. dealers have some old stock available. (A friend of mine recently purchased one from a dealer in Watertown, N.Y.) You should Google "KORG BX-3" to find some of these dealers, but realize that across-the-pond shipping will add a significant cost to your final price.

>(You can check out my BX-3 in the "Photos" section of the forum. I bought it from its former owner through the EBay connection and saved a large amount of money, by doing so.)

The Korg has a definite better programming facility to the Roland, and I am seriously looking to get a CX-3 should one arise. Fortunately the only Cx3 I have seen appear in the UK in the past year was a MK1 Analogue CX-3 pre 80's and fetching around £400 ($550).
