Hello Craig:

I am running 2 KC550's in stereo. They certainly sound better than only one KC550. The weight of one KC550 is approximately 62 lbs and if you hoist one on top of my 3300 Leslie it is a royal pain.  I would think the KC880 would be a back breaker and worse.
If I had to start over I would get what Sven runs the QSC K10's and a low end Mackie mixer.
I was going to do just that but I was able to pick up the second KC550 for $300 in new condidtion and I had to get it.  The harsh shrill sound you get at higher volumes on a single KC550 are less pronounced when you use two because there is no need to overdrive the amp and speaker.  
The sound I get now is not bad but still not exactly what I want. I vote QSC K8s or K10s with an inexpensive mixing board.  Smaller packages are easier to deal with in the long run. The KC880 is a 100 lb huge beast to contend with.  The QSC K10's are 32 lbs each.

Not owning a KC-880 myself but here is my reflections when I was
investigating in a new keyboard monitor system a couple of months ago.

Pros:
Stereo, Built in mixer, and stereo XLR out with own volume pot for send to
FOH mixer.

Conns:
To heavy, a little bit harsh and not so well balanced frequency curve and a
little noisy mixer/amp.

Ended up with 2 x QSC K10.
