Subject:Re: Roland VK-7 Opinions Sought - Am I Going to Like It?
Well, I already have the pin# 11 disconnected in my Leslie Model 130. I did this because I found it influenced the 1/4" output. As I stated earlier, what I noticed was when using the 11 pin Leslie output AND the 1/4" output TOGETHER, the 1/4" output wierdly switched to %100 wet reverb like a remote "echo" speaker in a church balcony WITHOUT Leslie simulation. (I believe I will never want this.)
I discovered that the Pin# 11 wire, which sends a +DC votage back to the console (or VK-7 in our case), when dis-connected, reverts the VK-7's 1/4" output back to normal Leslie sim operation.
Having said all that, I don't know what does happen when using Bypass in the above scenario (with Both outputs in use with pin#11 disconnected) but I would imagine it would work exactly like it does normally with the 1/4" outputs since the sense pin from the Leslie is already dis-connected.
I won't be tearing into my 130 to do any testing with the pin# 11 and the VK-7 any time soon so sorry about that. BTW, I was toying with the idea of stuffing a Leslie horn in the 130, I just use it at home with my M3 but it would be cool if I could snag the parts for small $. We'll see, not on the front burner by a long shot.
I was thinking about floating it inside the bass cavity, rather than isolating it with a "shelf". I'm thinking, I don't want to take volume (space) away from the LF driver cavity. I know it's a compromise but the 130 is a compromise from the start anyway. What do you think?
Cheers,
Rock
