I know what you mean Chuck. Our drummer has a beautiful set of DW's
but has opted to use a top of the line Roland electronic set instead.
We keep our stage volume as low as possible. The PA is massive so most
of the time we just use 1/2 of it. Often, as in last night, it was too
soft out front. The soundman was too intimidated by the older crowd to
crank it up. We use IEM so we cannot really tell. You know it's bad
when the crowd tells you the vocals are louder than the music! I
thumped our sound engineer's head and cranked the music up and all was
well. My point is, as much as I dislike electronic drums, they can
lead the way to lower stage volume and a cleaner sound out front.
