NO kidding!
I played in a small club last night (tops occupancy MAYBE 100) and our band was so friggin' loud it was shameful. On top of that absurdity, everything that makes noise has a mic in it!
I usually play with IEMs but opted to use a combination of IEMs and a SRM450 for my C2 and piano for a better overall sound. After the second set the singer said she couldn't hear a thing. When we started I had the C2 master volume at 10 o'clock when using the 450. By middle of the second I was back on IEMs because I couldn't take it anymore.
The funniest part is the worst offender was the drummer. No dynamics whatsoever and he was all over the place. Back beats where straight fours belonged and the tempo was...there was none.
Enough of this mess. And these guys argue that they're doing nothing wrong.
I'm just GD tired of these Neil Pert clones and their 35 piece drum kits. They got 35-piece erector sets and they use every piece on all songs.
Sheesh. Idiots!

Subject: [CWSG] Retirees

Wow! It looks like I'm not the only one that's grown tired of gigging. I just accepted a position as music director at a small church so as soon as they can find a replacement I'll be leaving my 'regular' band. I plan to do piano or organ trio gigs once in a while and maybe an occasional freelance gig, but I'm SERIOUSLY tired of moving furniture and doing battle with loud guitar players.
