Excellent subject. There are many situations where I can't afford to carry my large keyboards (C-3 and VK-88) and need an organ sound. For that reason I got a G-70 although the automatic section is never used. A Roland A-37 takes care of the lower manual and a PK-5 for the pedals. I do assign the organ section to the direct out and use a EV-5 expression pedal to control it. I wouldn't be able to play correctly without an exp. pedal.

The nice thing about this setup is that you still have two additional parts for each keyboard to which you can assign other sounds of your choice. The sounds in the G-70 are very similar to the Fantom but the programability is very limited. It's been hitting the road with me since 2005 and it does the job very well with the exception of the Leslie sim for which, as you may guess, a Vent will be coming shortly.

We may use different tools to make our music reach the audience, but after all, it's all about making good music.

In addition to playing organ, some of you may use arrangers in OMB's like I do. Since getting my Vent, I have been trying to use it with my other arranger organs. The Vent, used in place of the Leslie sim works great if you choose a non-Leslied sample. One can also use another instruments with the Bypass. Now, suppose you want to use the Vent with LH organ(with Vent) and another instrument for lead, or use rythm and Organ ? Some keyboards will allow you to send drawbars to direct, or, sub out. With my mixer, I send this to one channel via my Behringer FCV 100 pedal for volume control, and the rest through the mains. Some arrangers, like Roland G70 don't allow this, but my Technics does.
