This makes the most sense. Lip synching or what is called PLUS 1 where the vocals are live and?most times?includes the original singer's track but?varied in mix level?is a common thing more than we'd like to admit. Many times the live vocal is buried under the track depending.? Record companies make performers lip their own recordings for the belief that it helps record sales to be heard exactly like the record. Remember the ELO fiasco when it was supposedly discovered that parts if not the whole performance was synched? Today?no true fan of Britney cares if she lip synchs. ?A mastering house will make you what is called an "up/down" master where the vocals are different levels for TV playback.. Ed Sullivan insisted his acts played live. But rumour has it that Gary Lewis and the Playboys was synched on the Sullivan show. Pays to be Jerry's son.?Beatle Paul was also concerned about how his music would come across a tiny TV speaker. You can see this happen on Leno, Letterman still if you listen and watch carefully. Some acts don't want to jeopardize their 15 minutes.
?
The SB?halftime show?is on the same wavelength. Too much at stake, too little time.
