Gimptard? That's funny!
Since Emerson & Wakeman & Lord were 3 of my "standing up" Hammond mentors I
never felt "gimptardy". Plus I had other keyboards to play at the same
time!
I had never heard of Jimmy Smith!
BUT as a busboy at the Norselander Restaurant in Seattle I would peek in the
lounge & watch Freddy & Brownie who were a Hammond/Drums duo. Freddie kicked
mean pedals..!
They made a big impression on me just playing the lounge hit's of the early
70's.
Another Hammond duo that would play had one of the huge crazy psychedelic
Leslies with the black lights that was pretty cool! I kept these influences
with me..Satin Doll, etc.
