Subject:Re: Software B3 Users
Hi
This is my début post to this group. I use GSi exclusively, the sound quality is above that of B4-II (imho) and the effect units are much better.
I cannot recommend GSi more strongly either. It is *so* good.
Not having a hardware Hammond (sob) I gig with a MIDI keyboard and laptop, using Cantabile (cantabilesoftware.com) which makes it really easy to create set-lists for every possible combination of live work. A typical set-up is for me to use the leftmost two octaves on a Clavinet D6 (also by GSi) and the right four octaves on a Hammond or Electric Piano (also by GSi). I run each of them through separate effects units, and even on my 1 gig Dell D410 I never never have CPU, memory, or disk-access issues (oh the joy of emulation over samples).
Cantabile permits MIDI triggers for pretty much everything, including switching instruments, so I never need to touch my laptop during a gig. A Korg nanoKontrol provides live-performance drawbars, and a twenty-buck USB sound-card is sufficient for stage amplification (really).
I can't believe I have such a library of stunning sounds at my finger-tips. Twenty or even fifteen years ago top musicians would have paid *millions* for the exact same set-up I'm using today.
