Subject:Re: German!!! (was: Re: New Leslie Clone!)

Simon,

The software has dificulties with syntax, where homonyms such as "Rock" are explained within the context. Don't get me started on metapors and slang. How to program these things? Perhaps one day.... But of course you know these things.

"Bruzzeln" means to sizzle. Same use as in English: a nice overdrive.
"Mischungsverhältnis" means the ratio in a mix. Like 30:70 (= 30% input signal/70% chorus or any effect). It can also describe any ratio of two signals. But NOT crossover!

Crossover in German means Frequenzweiche. It is 800Hz in a Leslie 122 type.

Many words like Volume Pedal are already in "Denglisch", which means the use of English or something similar in German, because often the German word really sounds too uncool, or outdated. Same happens in many other languages.

Hope my ramblings are of some help,
Christian

A lot of mischief has been caused over the years by the fact that the
original meaning of the German word "Rock" is "skirt"; the identically
spelled English word meaning "rock music" has been adopted into everyday
German, but automatic translators will obviously use the native meaning by
default. So you get ultra-macho heavy-metal or punk artists described in
translated German as "skirt singers"! I'm not sure about "pulls", though -
possibly another German word with two meanings. "Bruzzeln"? No idea.
"Mischungsverhä ltis"? Well, Mischung means mixture, so I guess it's
something to do with the crossover. "Klangbild" is a nice one - it's one of
those lovely strung-together German words which typify the language, such as
"Donaudampfschifffa hrtsgesellschaft kapitänswittwe* ". "Klang", rather aptly
means "sound" and "Bild" means "picture" or "image". I suppose "soundscape"
is the nearest translation I can come up with. Wonder why the computer
couldn't...

what are violent skirt pulls? LOL

subtle bruzzeln?

Mischungsverhä ltis?

& Stereowirkung up to a rather diffuse Klangbild with calm modulation..
