Subject:Re: Ventilator up for competition?
IF I see a sound man (engineer or otherwise) bring out two or three mics to put on my Leslie, I begin to have some trust in them. Unfortunately, it is just as likely these days that he will be standing there with a DI in his hands staring at the Leslie looking around for a line out. A good sound man is worth his weight in gold because he can make or break the sound of your band. I was spoiled years back by having one of the best sound guys I've ever dealt with as a permanant part of a band that I was in at the time. Not only did he have ABSOLUTE knowledge and control over the system, but he knew the music (and the mix we wanted) as well as anyone in the band. He was a virtuoso on the board and he is missed.
