Every preset can assign different functions for the Midi knobs and buttons, so you could assign them foe just about any function. When I first upgraded to the C model I did not think that this would be such a big deal, but now I find them quite useful as I can control internal and external functions and sound modules with them.

I change presets on my GEM using the black preset keys on my lower manual. As I only use the GEM for acoustic and electric pianos, this is no problem.

This makes my whole setup clean with no extraneous devices in sight. My GEM sits inside a rack with my SE AMA.
