Subject:Ventilator non polarized ac input?

I got my ventilator a day or 2 ago and i havent been able to use it because of the german power cord. I have a couple of 110 type replacement cords but they are all polarized with a round side and a half square side. Can i round off the squatre corner and use one of these? Does the ventilator care which way the cord goes in?
