Subject:Re: Ventillator effect on persussion?
Very well described... that's exactly what i've found.
888888888 C3 is actually usuable right across the keyboard for example.
I think that was what i was trying (and failing) to say in an earlier post, that the Ventilator is not JUST a Leslie Sim, it's a cabinet sim, and as such, it simulates the entire audio characteristics of a Leslie 122. Not only just in terms of the Leslie doppler effect (of course) and the 122 amp saturation curve but also the physical sonic characteristic of the crossover and the cabinet itself. This is where i find that it is so different to the other sims to date. Most others have got the doppler effect down and the ramp up/down speeds but they fall short on actually sounding and responding like a real Leslie. This thing is a work of genius. I recorded with it at the weekend and listening back to the thus far unmixed versions of the songs, it is 100% convincing. The other real nice feature was that i was able to record some songs 'close mic' and others 'far mic' simply at the twist of a dial, with various levels of drive and balance, and get exactly the right tone, growl and AM/FM that i felt was needed for a particular song. If that had been a real Leslie, there would have been one seriously miffed engineer by the end of the session.
Still lovin it...
