Subject:Was Ventilator - Poor design? WRONG.

David....ease up my man!

You are getting worked up by your misinterpretation and your complete ignorant/unfamiliarity with the device itself.  This thing is actually pretty well designed for us (keyboardists), and is implemented in a way that even guitarists can understand! (joke of course)

Yes, two footswitches.  Excuse me, but I know you’ve used plenty of Hammond/Leslie combinations, and I’m betting some of them involved footpedals and not just half/moon switching.  I don’t know of ANY stop/fast/slow footswitching that did not involve 2 switches (one for stop, the other for fast/slow).  So I don’t know what you’re getting all excited about here.

The device is stereo, the input is mono.  This makes perfect sense to me.  No leslie preamp pedal I’ve ever ever seen or used took a stereo input, not Trek, not Hamptone, not even Speakeasy.  This device is no different.  I don’t see what the advantage to stereo INPUT would be.  The output is indeed stereo, and sounds great.  Again, why are you excited about this, unless you are misinterpreting this and think it’s only a mono output.

Designed like a guitarist’s stompbox? That’s a plus if you ask me.  It’s in a tank-like metal chassis, the knobs are recessed so you don’t accidentally “adjust” them with your foot while stepping on the switches, looks like it can take some serious abuse.  This is a win.  Why does this upset you?  (It’s much more robust than the Korg G4, which was plastic, and protects all controls unlike the Voce Spin II, and is more compact than the H&K Rotosphere.)  Again, this is a win for us.

No US Adaptor needed, just a $2 cord from Radio Shack.  Made to operate at 110 or 220v, so again, I think this is a win.  I think they should have included that cheapie power cord for US buyers, but since they haven’t really worked out US Distribution yet, I’m betting they will fix that when they will have a regular US customer base, and swap the US cable for the Euro cable.  This is not worth getting riled up over.

You’re way off-base David.  Unusual for you, but in this case, you must take it on the chin.
