I have it. Got it from http://korgparts.com/ but strangely it's not showing up on their website anymore. Currently it only shows the old analog CX-3 manual. I had them sent it to me by email as I didn't want to have to wait and pay for shipping it on CD. I ordered it to see if I could change the power supply to take 230V instead of 110 (I imported my CX-3 from the US to Europe) but I ended up simply installing a 1:2 transformer inside the CX-3.
They do currently offer a CD-ROM with some 100 Korg service manuals so maybe it's included on that one. It's more expensive than the single CX-3 manual though, think I paid $15 for that. The collection of manuals is something like $45.
Perhaps if you email them they will sell you the single manual, especially if you don't need it on CD.
Regarding your problem, my bet would be on a loose internal connector too. I'm an EE too btw.
The service manual describes how to get it in test mode but I'm not sure what that does exactly (seems to includes some DSP tests)and if I should post info like that here. It will destroy the Preset and Global data which then need to be restored with another key combination.
Good luck,
