Subject:Re: First clones?
Hey,
Thanks to mention Philicorda below !
Allows actually remember my first electronic-keyboard: a Philicorda 'organ' (1968)manufactured by Philips in the Netherlands.
Going further back I'had played Farfisa electric stuff at church, but was kinda electric-harmonium so IMO doesn't qualify for this poll.
But yes, nevertheless the Philicorda didn't sound as a 'clone' was an early attempt , hybrid of tubes and silicon so I'd say that it deserves mercy if compared with today's standards.
Good idea, anybody thinking to make a DVD kinda time-capsule being opened any point beyond 2020 ?
Good if KBDmag should be there to write an article !
FIY: what got me more amazed after hearing an actual Leslie, was the distinctive sound of tremolo/chorale speed changes of upper horns as heard in a model 147.
Only fully appreciated the Doppler effect of Procol Harum playing ' A whiter shade of pale' only when I heard an actual Leslie in person , early 70's.
So, my best bet will be always for the 'real thing' beyond of regarding moving costs 'on stage'.

Actually, the first clone I played in a band was a Philips Philcordia. I
didn't own it but I could play it better than the guy who did, so I was
nominated as the keyboard player ( much cooler to be the guitar player
back then ! ).
