A lot of this has to do with the economy. Its hard to justify paying over 1000 for a Leslie when you may not have a job tomorrow.

There always seem to be lull in musical instrument value when
popularity wanes. Example, the Fender Jazzmaster. It lost popularity
and was even discontinued, after being Fender's favorite son.. with
cheap pawnshop deals, ridiculous prices of $100, (the made in USA
versions not the crafted in Japan). Now try getting one of these and if
it's a 1963 vintage, be prepared to pay through the nose. They've been
reissued and go for $1.9k. The USA models.

I'll play a clone but my Leslie has to be real, is where I draw the
line. Fake the tonewheel, but moving air can only be done properly, at
least at this stage of technology, by the real thing. However, it is
good someone is taking up the challenge to get a Leslie on a chip.

In the past 6 months I have seen 147s, 142s, 145s and 351Hs for sale
for under $1K,
