I have the Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro (actually have 3 of them) and use them for exactly what you mention. Like 'em a lot. You can find them used on eBay for a little over $100. Never had a problem with any of mine and they also provide phantom power in case you have a condenser mic for the Leslie lower rotor or something like that. If you are often changing levels, you might like a board with sliders instead of pots, but since I don't change levels (almost never) I like the pots - much less easily bumped.
